Former Bradford Grammar School pupil Jacob Rowan has won an award in Leeds Carnegie’s end-of-season honours.
The England Under-20 player, who was loaned out to Otley at the start of the 2008-09 campaign, was named Academy Player of the Year.
The award was a dream way to finish the season after making his debut for Leeds and England Under-20s and picking up the man of the match award in his home debut for Carnegie.
The former Bradford Grammar School pupil, who is studying for a chemistry degree, later showed his worth for Leeds, making eight appearances in total.
Rowan said: “It has been great to be involved with the first team this season and being able to learn from the senior guys.
“Someone like Hendre Fourie has been a real inspiration for me and hopefully I can keep on learning and progressing next season.”
England Under-20 captain Calum Clark topped off a fine season by retaining his Young Player of the Year award.
It marked a remarkable reversal of fortunes for the young player who started life under the new regime of Neil Back and Andy Key suspended having been sent off on international duty.
However he showed great maturity and was praised by club captain Rob Rawlinson who presented the award.
Former Prince Henry’s Grammar School pupil Alex Black was named Most Improved Academy Player.
