Yorkshire Division Two: Halifax Vandals 10 Old Grovians 29
OLD Grovians notched a much-needed win at Yorkshire Division Two's bottom team Halifax Vandals.
The victory was earned by a dominant pack, with No 8 Joe Sowden scoring three tries and flanker Harry Hardy two tries, several of which were pushovers.
However, Grovians' head coach Dan Nulty said: "I was worried at half-time because we were trailing 10-7 having played uphill, and we have thrown matches away in the past because we have just expected things to happen when we played downhill.
"Everybody played well for us, but the pack were magnificent.
"Also Ben Brown, who kicked three conversions and a penalty, marshalled the troops well from scrum half.
"However, I felt sorry for Vandals with their injuries, including losing their No 8 with a dislocated hip only a couple of minutes in."
