Yorkshire Division Four North West: Bramley Phoenix 16 Wibsey 20
WIBSEY, Yorkshire Division Five champions last season, showed with their 20-16 victory at Bramley Phoenix in Yorkshire Division Four North West that they must be respected in the higher division.
Brad Wright landed two penalties for the visitors in the first half, which ended 6-6, but the hosts started the second half strongly, adding a converted try and a penalty to lead 16-6.
This was when Wibsey started their comeback, however, with James Brown getting a try that Wright converted, and Brown going over again in the 75th minute when Bramley had a player in the bin, with Wright converting again, this time from the touchline.
Wibsey, who lost Chris Farley and James Birkbeck to injury, gave the man of the match award to Michael Kite, closely followed by Andy McDonnell and Brown.
Rob Greenwood made a rare ten-minute cameo for the visitors.
