WIBSEY recovered from the shock of being 12-0 down after 11 minutes to win their first-round Yorkshire Vase tie 48-19 at home to BP Chemicals.

By half-time they had scored 29 unanswered points against visitors with an experienced pack, with tries coming from Kyle Carter (2), Brad Wright, Luke Wilson and Bruce Mpofu, with Wright adding two conversions.

Wilson's was the best as he ran over two defenders to get to the line, only to injure an ankle in the act of scoring.

Skipper James Brown, Danny Conroy and Jimmy Rodgers added tries in the second half, with Wright and Luke Helliwell tagging on the conversions.

Wibsey will now be away to Halifax or York RI on a date to be arranged, with all of the other first-round ties taking place on Saturday, October 14.
