Yorkshire Division Five: Knaresborough 0 Wibsey 19

ONE of the most pleasing things for leaders Wibsey this season has been the influence of players from neighbours Wibsey Warriors rugby league team.

And three who are familiar with the 13-a-side code were at the head of the player of the match awards as the visitors maintained their 100 per cent record by winning a potentially tricky contest at third-placed Knaresborough.

Flanker Michael Kite, playing only his third first-team game, won the gong, followed by 17-year-old debutant lock Sam Foulds and hooker Mark Darragh.

The hosts dominated the opening 20 minutes without scoring, only for Wibsey to pounce a minute later when they finally got into Knaresborough's 22 after the hosts had a man sin-binned, Brad Wright scoring a try in the corner and nailing the conversion.

The next 20 minutes were shared, with Wright missing a penalty in the final minute of what had mainly been a forward battle.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, but Wibsey struck again when Elliott Gray broke and Foulds rucked over before flipping the ball to skipper James Brown, centre Chris Clough paving the way for Darragh to go over from 22 yards out in the 47th minute.

Wibsey finished off the hosts with a try in the 50th minute, after Kyle Carter kicking ahead and profited from a nice 'David Campese' type bounce to re-gather and score for James Sawyer to convert.
