OLD Grovians second row Eric Roberts has won the coveted Tracy Brown Memorial Trophy.

He was presented with the award by Tracy's husband Richard at the club's summer ball in a marquee at their Stansfield Arms headquarters at Apperley Bridge.

Richard said: "Tracy died 14 months ago and we decided to donate a trophy in her name to honour the spirit of the game.

"The recipient trains regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays and plays on Saturdays and has made a massive improvement year on year.

"He is very understated and very self critical but he is a credit to his clubmates.

"The winner of the Tracy Brown Memorial Trophy is Eric Roberts."

Roberts had already shared the most improved player of the year award with Jack Hartley earlier this summer.

No 8 Christian Baines, who has signed for Bradford Salem for 2016-17, also picked up two awards, winning the top try-scorer with 19 (Anthony Griffin was second with seven) and the players' player award.

Ben Brown was the leading points scorer with 120, Danny Secker won most man of the match awards, and Adam Driver was clubman of the year.

The booby prize of the Teflon award went to Matthew Williams for consistently dropping the ball.
