BRADFORD Salem made Wharfedale bend but could not break them in their Aire-Wharfe Cup quarter-final under The Avenue floodlights.

The Greens won 27-19, with Salem bagging tries by winger Nick Fontaine (2) and lock John Morrell, who hared over from Blackburn to arrive just after kick-off, with Sam Riley adding two conversions in a game where Salem only trailed 15-14 at the interval.

Ilkley handed Skipton their first defeat in 13 matches in another last-eight tie at Sandylands, triumphing 15-7.

Skipton conceded two unconverted tries in the first half, and it became 15-0 in the second before the hosts scored two minutes from time, No 8 Ben Hall going over from a forward drive after a tap penalty 25 metres out, Matty Langstaff converting.

Ilkley will host Wharfedale in next week's semi-finals, while Old Otliensians, who beat West Leeds 24-14 at Chaffers Field, will travel to Yarnbury, 16-14 victors at West Park Leeds.

In an Aire-Wharfe Plate semi-final qualifier, Baildon managed tries by JJ O'Connell and Henry Brown in a 17-10 defeat at Bradford & Bingley.

Aire-Wharfe Plate semi-final draw: Keighley v Bradford & Bingley, Roundhegians v Aireborough. Matches to be played next week.
