National League One: Wharfedale 26 Henley Hawks 17
THIS was a deserved win for Wharfedale, which just took them above a relegation berth.
But Henley were in the lead after a feisty first half in which yellow cards could have flowed as the handbags were flying but only the hosts' Rob Baldwin was sin-binned for a foul tackle off the ball.
Dale’s pressure in the second half led to Henley spending the last 13 minutes with reduced ranks as first Charles Davey (67 minutes) and Simon Perry (72 minutes) were sent to the sin bin.
Thomas Bliss and Thomas Hall crossed for Henley and O’Neill added the extras to both in the first half, Jamie Guy responding with a penalty between the two scores.
Good Dale possession then led to play deep in Henley’s 22, and Jordon Poole’s charge down and collect closed the gap just before the interval, Guy again being accurate from the tee to narrow the gap to four points.
In the second half, three penalties from Guy and a converted try from Cameron Hudson were only answered by one penalty from O’Neill.
