THE weather may have put many clubs behind schedule in terms of their league fixtures, but there are still some vital clashes tomorrow.

Cleckheaton, who have signed Mark Chivers from Otley, are at Burnage in a basement battle in National League Three North, Yorkshire Division One leaders Bradford & Bingley are at third-placed Bridlington, and Keighley are seeking a 13th straight victory at home to fifth-placed Moortown in Yorkshire Two.

"Players had mixed opinions last season when we played on the artificial pitch at Burnage," admitted Cleckheaton's rugby chairman Neil Gillan.

"Rob Afoa Peterson said that if he had been able to play on a pitch like that every week it would have prolonged his career by a couple of seasons, but others found it a bit abrasive.

"An artificial pitch is something that we have been thinking about at Cleckheaton but it would depend on finances."

The Bees are bidding for a third victory of the season over Bridlington, but Wagon Lane secretary Nick Patterson said: "We only beat them 24-23 in the Yorkshire Shield in August and 34-28 at home in the league in October.

"If their kicker had been on form we would have probably have lost both matches, so they will be thinking that they can turn us over but we are close to full strength."

Meanwhile, Bradford Salem have a mid-table battle for bragging rights at home to North Ribblesdale.

Second-placed Keighley, who trail Yorkshire Two leaders West Leeds by eight points but have two games in hand, only won 14-13 at Moortown in October.

Tenth-placed Old Grovians have a tough ask at fourth-placed Pontefract, while Baildon, who are 11th in Yorkshire Division Three, have a similarly difficult job at home to fourth-placed Northallerton.

Wibsey, fifth in Yorkshire Division Five, are confident of handing visitors Stanley Rodillians a defeat, despite missing Marcus Grimes, Chris Partridge and Kyle Carter. Rods only need a point to secure the title.

Otley can push their claims for a top-four berth at home to Chester in National League Two North.
