Cinderford 26, Wharfedale 26

WHARFEDALE grabbed a draw with a last-gasp touchline conversion from Jamie Guy, which not only denied Cinderford five National League One points but stopped the Gloucestershire club from leap-frogging the Greens and leaving them at the bottom of the table.

After nine minutes, George Mills went over from a catch and drive for Cinderford to which Michael Wilcox added the extras.

Dale's response came seven minutes later with a defence-splitting break from Phil Woodhead, with Will Bell being on hand to finish the move under the posts and Guy having no problems with the kick to level the scores.

Perhaps the best move of the game, with crisp handling and strong support play, led to Marcus Brown taking Cinderford back into the lead with a converted try.

But Dale finished the first half the stronger team and a converted penalty try left the sides tied at 14-14 at the interval.

A 20-metre catch and drive led to Chris Howick being awarded an unconverted try, which nudged Dale in front just after the restart.

Yet Cinderford's forwards responded to score two more tries, Brown adding a second unconverted try and Exeter Chiefs player Jerry Sexton re-establishing the hosts' lead with a converted try.

The Green Machine again finished strongly, however, and were rewarded with another try from Howick.

This left Dale trailing by two points but Guy landed a superb kick from wide out to secure the draw, with both sides gaining three points.
