BRADFORD Salem have an extra incentive to win tonight's Corporate Leisurewear Yorkshire Shield semi-final at home to Yarnbury (7.30).

SSE Yorkshire Division Two champions Salem wanted to play the derby last Saturday but the visitors from Horsforth, who will be league opponents next season, were not available due to a tour to Holland, and that will hit the Heaton club hard in the pocket.

Salem's first-team manager Neil Klenk said: "If the match had been played last Saturday, we would have taken £3,000-£3,500 over the bar, with people staying for longer.

"However, tonight we are only likely to take £600-£700 as spectators will have to go to work tomorrow morning.

"Even Yarnbury have conceded that we are morally in the right over when we wanted the match to be played."

The winners will face Bridlington in the final on Sunday, May 10 (3pm) but the venue has been switched at short notice from York to Hull Ionians.

The curtain raiser will be the Yorkshire Silver Trophy final between Wetherby and Northallerton (1.30pm).
