BRADFORD Dudley Hill are finally off the mark.

After six straight defeats in Kingstone Press National Conference League Division One, they notched their first victory, climbing off the bottom of the table after a 42-36 home victory over mid-table Oulton Raiders.

Tries for the hosts, who led 40-14 just after half-time, came from full back Aiden Batey, wingers Damian Smith and Neil Wall, half-backs Luke Johnson and Simon Sewell, prop Anthony Lawton and second-row forward Callum Wilkins, with Sewell adding seven goals.

Hill's first-team manager Steve Wright said: "We must be the only side who score 40 points at home and worry about getting the win, but the main thing was the two points.

"Anthony Lawton was absolutely massive, playing 80 minutes up front for us, and Aiden Batey was fantastic at the back too, while Seb Russo caused them mayhem around the ruck when he came on."

West Bowling also triumphed, beating basement boys Saddleworth Rangers 32-30 at home, but needed a try by Richard Lumb with two minutes left.

Other try-scorers were Ben Heald, Lumb, Jack Milburn and Kieran Baker, and coach Glenn Barraclough said: "Our attack was better than the previous week but our defence still need some work."
