THREE Betfred Super League matches have been postponed over the next two days due to 'The Beast From The East'.

Tonight's televised Hull KR v Castleford Tigers clash has bitten the dust, as has tomorrow's game between Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons at Emerald Headingley.

Meanwhile, tomorrow night's Wakefield Trinuty v Huddersfield Giants clash has been moved back to Sunday (3pm).

These decisions, made by Super League clubs and the Rugby Football League have been made for the safety of players, staff and supporters.

There will therefore be no live TV match tonight, but, in a change of schedule, the Hull FC v Warrington Wolves match will be shown tomorrow night.

A statement on the Leeds Rhinos' website read: "The pitch will be playable due to the undersoil heating.

"However, with temperatures not set to rise above freezing until after the weekend and the latest forecasts predicting snowfall tomorrow, the RFL match commissioner has agreed with the stadium’s safety officer that areas of the stadium are not safe to open to the public.

"The under-19s' game due to be played at Stanningley tomorrow has also been postponed.

"A re-arranged date will be confirmed for later in the season through consultation with the RFL and Catalans Dragons."

Rhinos' chief executive Gary Hetherington said: “Postponing a game is not a decision that is taken lightly and it is something that has happened on only a handful of occasions in the past 20 years.

"I would like to thank the RFL and Catalans Dragons for their co-ordination on this matter.  We have taken the decision early because there is no sign of the situation improving according to forecasts.

“It is particularly frustrating to call the game off after all the hard work that has gone on from the construction team at Caddicks and our staff to get our new facilities ready in time and we were ready to open the doors tomorrow.

“With the weather set to improve from next week, we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Emerald Headingley next Thursday for the visit of Hull FC.”

All match tickets that have already been purchased for the Catalans Dragons game are still valid for the re-arranged date and do not need to be exchanged.

Match-ticket purchasers who are unable to attend the re-arranged date when it is announced are entitled to a refund.
