GLENN Barraclough isn't beating about the bush when it comes to previewing West Bowling's derby at Stanningley in the Kingstone Press National Conference League tomorrow.

Bowling lead Division Three with Stanningley in second, both on 18 points from 12 matches, and the former Keighley Cougars coach said: "It is a must-win game for both teams.

"It is a match that we have had an eye on for a while, without getting too distracted by it.

"Stanningley are a young, enthusiastic side, as are we, and they have a good off-load game."

Wests have been boosted by the return of Jack Milburn after a tweaked ankle, but Barraclough confessed that he hadn't decided where to start him.

With it being a derby, it is not surprising that players are facing their former clubs, such as Danny Halmshaw for Bowling and Carl McGuigan for Stanningley.

Bradford Dudley Hill also have a big clash in Division Two as the fourth-placed club host third-placed Thornhill Trojans.

In the Yorkshire Men's League Premier Division, things promise to be equally tight when sixth-placed Queensbury host Sharlston Rovers, who are only a place below them, at Ovenden Park.

Elsewhere it is a case of seventh-placed clubs being at home, with Odsal Sedbergh taking on Heworth (fourth) in Division One, Wibsey Warriors A facing Whinmoor Warriors (second) in Division Four, and Queensbury A hosting Batley Boys DMR (fourth) in Division Five.

Sedge will be hoping that their defence is more watertight than when they lost 46-0 at Knottingley Worms last Saturday, while that is also the need for Wibsey Warriors, who at least scored 28 points while shipping 54 at West Leeds.

West Bowling A, without a game tomorrow, lost by a similar scoreline at York Lokomotive.

Queensbury warmed up for the match by going on tour to Ireland to face Ashbourne Longhorns last week.

The home side included full Irish and under-19 internationals, and there was little to choose between the sides in the first 20 minutes on an artificial pitch.

But Jimmy Simpson broke the deadlock for the tourists, following a jinking Billy Naylor run, Robson Moore adding the goal, and Arron Moore's try made it 10-0 from a sharp Jonjo Naylor pass.

Emmett Banahan reduced the arrears with a try but Naylor's deft kick put Tom Hainsworth over before half-time, although Matt Connolly added a converted try to leave the interval score at 14-10.

Queensbury took charge in the second half, with Naylor (2) and Arron Moore bagging early tries to which Ethan Sharp added the goals.

The onslaught continued with two more tries by Hainsworth completing his hat-trick against hosts who never gave up.

Man of the match for Queensbury was Liam Ruff.
