Wibsey Warriors 32 Dudley Hill A 18
Wibsey Warriors crowned their unbeaten season with a stunning win against Dudley Hill A in a cracking Hudson Foster Supplementary Bradford Cup final before the main event.
The Warriors, who are two divisions below Hill in the Pennine League pecking order, raced in front with a splendid touchline dash from centre Mike Derrick, leaving stand-off Andy Robinson to convert from out wide.
Hill reduced the arrears when centre Simon Kenefick crossed but Wibsey's young guns struck further blows with tries from full back Danny Bingley, prop Mark Darragh and substitute Nathan Anderson.
Robinson converted two and added a penalty before Dudley Hill responded with a quickfire slick passing move to put stand-off James Banks in to end the half 24-10.
Hooker Scott Watson further reduced the arrears early in the second half with a pick and run from dummy half but the task in hand was made harder when centre Lee O'Conner was sent to the sin bin for punching.
Robinson slotted over a penalty and, when Anderson collected at the base of the scrum to run over unopposed, the Warriors were home and dry.
Robinson, who won the best player award by a mile, duly did the honours before the resolute Hill veteran John Vaichikoukas twisted out of a tackle to bring an end to a skilful encounter.
