West Bowling A travel to Keighley Town tomorrow night (6.30) knowing that they are just two wins away from a Pennine League Premiership berth next season.

Bowling, however, had their work cut out to overcome a determined Moldgreen outfit 24-8 at Emsleys Rec to put themselves in pole position for Division One promotion.

Nerves were definitely jangling when West's second strings trailed the Huddersfield side 4-0 at the interval.

However, they responded to the silky skills of playmaker Shaun Fallon in the second stanza and hit the front when Callum Shackleton crossed in the corner, allowing marksman Ash Wood the opportunity to convert from the touchline.

Moldgreen posted an unconverted try to regain the lead before Bowling finally got their act together with further touchdowns from Gareth Cullington, Paul Ali and Martin Tordoff.

Wood made a considerable contribution with a further three goals, which included another towering effort from out wide.

Birkenshaw's rapid climb up the table continued with a 30-22 success at champions Crigglestone All Blacks.

Birky move into fourth spot after inflicting Crigglestone's first home defeat in two years, despite being behind 16-14 at the interval.

They posted tries from Darrell Forster, Johnny Turpin, Andy Hirst, Jason Lee, Richard Rhodes and Eddie Filtness. Karl Wroe kicked three conversions, with Lee walking away with the man of the match.

Division Two table-toppers Wyke saw off Dearne Valley Bulldogs 24-10 to set up Saturday's title decider against Newsome Panthers at Towngate.

The black and whites hit the front early doors when stand-off Andy Patchett put centre Alan Binns in out wide.

Two quick plays saw hooker Ian Wat-kinson hit the chalk and a cut-out pass from scrum half Shaun Godfrey gave wingman John Rayner a chance which he accepted in fine style.

Wyke turned round 12-0 up and it was more of the same on the restart with Binns collecting from dummy half to race 60 metres to the uprights.

Rayner beat three defenders to reach the whitewash for his brace and Craig Hillam added his second conversion and a late penalty to complete their tally.
