West Bowling are put out of their misery
6:20pm Tuesday 10th April 2012 in Pennine League By Jack Strother
Two tries and five conversions from Andy Robinson helped Wibsey Warriors to a 38-14 victory over Queensbury in the Premier Division. Pictured is Wibsey's Michael Horrocks attempting to steal a few yards
West Bowling were being crushed 46-0 at home to Sharlston Rovers when the match was abandoned after 62 minutes due to a knee injury to Wests second row forward Elliott Cousins.
The young packman recovered after the game without any serious problems being diagnosed and the early bath probably saved a very youthful Bowling outfit from a huge final score at the hands of a vastly experienced Rovers side intent on having a huge say on who will win the Pennine League Premier Division crown.
Wyke, who are sitting safely in the lower reaches of Division Two, will be disappointed at the 44-12 loss at home to leaders and arch rivals Brighouse Rangers, while Undercliffe Wildboars showed their Division Six title credentials with a 48-4 win at Wetherby Bulldogs.
The Wildboars revealed their intent with first-half touchdowns from Ben Chandler, Aiden Scully and a brace from Kaz Ahmed, which together with two conversions saw them into the sheds 20-0 to the good.
The second half was a fiery affair, with Undercliffe duo Kenny Smith and Steve Ingleson receiving their marching orders, but they shook off the reduction in numbers and returned to the game-plan to punish the full-strength hosts further with Paul Cross (2), Karl Walker, Ash Yarrow and Scully all reaching the whitewash in quick succession.
