West Bowling junior called up for England

West Bowling rookie Elliot Minchella has been selected in the England under-16 squad to play France in a two-match Test series at Easter.

The highly-rated 15-year-old loose forward from Clayton Heights plays for West Bowling under-18s and is also in the final year of a scholarship at Leeds Rhinos.

He hails from a family of Bradford Bulls fans and was previously on the books at Odsal before switching to Leeds and earning his first England cap against Wales last summer.

Proud dad Chris said: “Elliot has done very well at Leeds, hence his selection for England, but as a family we are all staunch Bulls supporters.

“He’s probably in the best place at the moment as he looks to secure a professional contract but hopefully he will be back in the red, amber and black of Brad-ford one day.”

Minchella is one of six Leeds Rhinos scholarship players to be selected for the 42-strong youth squad. Two Bulls youngsters – Jared Simpson and Josh Green-wood – are also included.

Played against him at Cougar Park last year (we won), didn't rate him at all HOWEVER he may play better with better players around him. All he wanted to do was fight against us. If he cuts that out he has the potential to be a quality player.

Jarod Simpson however is a player I rate very highly. Absolutly quality and one of the very few exciting players from Bulls U15's last year. Another was Kyle Akrigg but he has since gone to the dark side (Rhinos).

Bulls score at Coliseum? Enlighten me? I play for Cougars. And I don't need a friggin paper been there done that. If you actually read me comment properly I clearly state if he cuts out the fighting and acting hard on the pitch he has potential. Now go back to sucking on your dummy if your tongue isn't up Elliots backside.

Well done Elliot he's a good kid and wouldn't get selected if he was that bad. His dad used to coach my son they are a lovely family and deserve the break - good luck and enjoy

Make up your mind in your first sentance you say you did not rate him at all

Then you say he has the potential to be a quality player

Me thinks the green eyed monster may have been nicking your sour grapes!
