WYKE loose forward Oscar Woodhead was the star of the show in his side's 26-0 Pennine League win at Wortley Dragons.

The black and whites stamped their authority on the Division Two Central game in the opening stanza, when scrum half Jordan Payton completely fooled the home rearguard with a cheeky show-and-go race to the chalk.

He was quickly followed by centre Ben Procter, who had the pace and power to finish off a sweeping passing move.

The Dragons fell deeper into the mire when they had a man sent off, leaving Wyke to register further touchdowns from second-row forward Alec Williams and centre Sam Kittsen.

Former Victoria Rangers favourite Woodhead, who has fitted into the Wyke outfit like a glove following his switch of clubs, richly deserved his man of the match gong by posting the final try with a clever side-step.

Clayton's home game against high-fliers Woodhouse Warriors was abandoned in the 50th minute following a potentially serious incident when one of the host players collapsed with a non-related rugby condition.

The club have not released the player's identity for family reasons but it is understood that he has undergone treatment at Bradford Royal Infirmary after being transported there by ambulance and is in a stable condition.

Clayton were leading 14-4 at the time, following tries from Karl Spring, Jamie Waterman and Danny Priestley, with Ryan Wilkinson adding a solitary conversion.

Brighouse Rangers have withdrawn from the Championship Division after failing to raise a side for the second week on the trot.

Rangers, who were having one of their best seasons for many years, have been rocked by the withdrawal of one of their main sponsors and a lack of commitment from key players.
