STAND-OFF Brad Tattersall crossed the whitewash for a terrific three-try haul to guarantee Wibsey Warriors a 26-20 victory over Odsal Sedbergh in a pulsating Jack Senior Memorial Bradford Cup final at Odsal Stadium.

The chunky half-back started the game in great style when he intercepted a wayward pass to race 60 metres to the posts, leaving centre Brad Wright with a simple conversion.

Sedge then steadied the ship when hooker Shaquille Jones burrowed over from the ruck, with centre Luke Dawson slotting over the equaliser, and they hit the front when loose forward Scott Smith collected a loose ball to cross in the corner.

The Warriors' woeful restart fell into the arms of centre Robert Priestley, who raced 80 metres up the touchline and produced a clever change of pace to leave the Wibsey defence floundering en route to the chalk, with Dawson making no mistake with the extras to put his side 16-6 to the good.

Wibsey's need for points was answered when a long kick to the corner was fielded by the Odsal defence, and when the ball was shipped towards the posts, Tattersall snatched the ball in a one-on-one tackle to cross under the sticks, with Wright's conversion reducing the deficit to 16-12 at the interval.
The Warriors were once again on level terms on the resumption when Tattersall threaded a grubber kick beyond the defence to allow wingman Joe Ratcliffe to pounce in the corner, but Sedge player-coach Paul Bottomley proved just as precise when an identical kick helped Dawson to go over at the flag.

A 1,000 crowd were enthralled with the brilliant standard of amateur rugby on display, and another splendid touchdown came when scrum half Ryan Goldsborough took an offload from packman Mike Kite to dive over at the flag as the Warriors turned the screw.

Wright's cracking conversion set up a nail-biting finale.

Sedge put Wibsey under siege in their 20-metre zone, with Bottomley’s high kicks causing havoc, but they weathered the storm, and hooker Dan Conroy, who was man of the match, was held inches short before his quick play enabled Tattersall to pick up and post a brilliant hat-trick to help them collect the cup by a slender margin.

Two late penalties from the boot of scrum half Ethan Egerton Sharp ensured that Queensbury collected the Hudson Foster Supplementary Bradford Cup 26-22 against Birkenshaw Bulldogs in the curtain raiser.

The Bluedogs raced into a 10-0 lead when centre Chris Walker spun out of the clutches of three defenders to cross, and hooker Matt Honysett gained just reward for backing up centre Damian Smith to reach the uprights.

Bury opened their account when substitute forward Sam Cheney waded into the defence to power his way to the chalk, and Sharp slotted over the conversion, but their joy was tempered when Walker intercepted to race 80 metres for an absolute belter, allowing full back Gary Procter to add his second conversion to give both sides a welcome break at 16-6.
Centre Jack McMillan reduced Bury's deficit on the restart before Honysett popped over for his brace to which Procter added the extras for what seemed a match-winning 22-10 advantage.

But Bury had retribution in mind, and their stamina and belligerence came to the fore when packman Brett Marriot and loose forward Cam Parry powered their way to the whitewash, leaving Sharp to ensure maximum returns.

At 22-22, extra-time looked to be looming but Birky suddenly lost the plot at the ruck, giving Sharp the chance to land a penalty, and they added to their own downfall shortly afterwards when a punch in the tackle saw Sharp once again on target as Bury collected the silverware.
