WEST Bowling supremo Glenn Barraclough faces a selection headache that most coaches would envy prior to welcoming Barrow Island to Emsley's Rec in Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Three on Saturday.

Bowling, who are level on six points with the Barrow side and just one adrift of leaders Rylands Sharks, have barnstorming centre Jack Milburn fit and raring to go after recovering from a torn bicep to add to the squad that won in great style at Waterhead last week.

Play-making stand-off Max Trueman is out with a knee injury but the return of Liam Coe from Dewsbury Rams and Cian Timmings from Coventry Bears adds a touch of class to the three-quarter line.

Barraclough has high hopes of another win prior to the Easter break, saying: “We need to build on last week’s performance and keep improving.

"The selection will be a bit of a headache, but that is coaching, and we have some tough decisions to make.”

In Division Two, Bradford Dudley Hill are also looking to continue winning ways when Oulton Raiders arrive at Parry Lane.

Hill, who are keeping their supporters in raptures with some nail-biting results, have a back line in tip-top form, with centre James Morton and wingman Liam Naven regularly making the whitewash.

Elusive scrum half Simon Sewell is proving the king pin in manoeuvring their powerful pack around the park, as well as slotting over the vital conversions.

Oulton are also in form, having won convincingly at Wigan St Judes on their last outing, setting up all the ingredients for a close game.

Two local sides are hoping for Pennine cup glory as the winter season draws to a close.

Clayton face a daunting task when they travel to Ovenden in the semi-finals of the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy.

The Halifax hosts waltzed to the Division One championship undefeated but the Villagers have the skill and experience to punish them severely if they take the outcome for granted.

Wyke A have an identical task when they journey to Division Three title winners Eastmoor Dragons in the semi-finals of the Pennine Supplementary Cup.

The black and whites have a number of players back in contention after long lay-offs, and they are bound to be ring rusty, but full back Jimmy Wain is battle hardened and in super nick and will lead from the front.
