WEST Bowling gave a clear warning that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with in this season's Kingstone Press National Conference League following a 40-18 success at Waterhead Warriors.

The visitors made a dream start to the Division Three contest when second-row forward Olly Bartle latched on to a Danny Halmshaw grubber kick to touch down.

Flying wingman Isaac Khan then sprinted 80 metres to the chalk, leaving stand-off Harry Williams to add the extras for an early 12-0 lead.

Khan was quick off the mark to sail in once again for his second try before a lack of ball control sparked a Warriors revival to close the half 16-12 in Bowling's favour.

Man of the match Halmshaw worked his magic once again on the restart to put Bartle in for his brace, only for the Oldham hosts to stage another recovery to close the gap to 22-18 on the hour mark.

The game management of centre Liam Coe, playing his first match after returning from a spell with Dewsbury Rams, proved a crucial factor as Glenn Barraclough's boys dominated the game from then on.

Further touchdowns followed from forwards Nat Light, Richard Lumb and Chris Watson, while Williams' trusty boot was also apparent as he finished the game with a six-goal tally.

Meanwhile, Pennine League action saw Wyke A win through to the semi-finals of the Supplementary Cup with a 32-20 win at home to Queensbury.

The black and whites were revitalised, with a number of players returning to action after winter hibernation, as tries flowed from James Wain, Gavin Mezals, Train Campbell, James McGibbon and James Cullen.

Queensbury replied through Jack McMillan (2), Joel Charlton and Jimmy Artist.

It was also a sorry day for Queensbury's summer side as they fell to a 40-12 defeat at home to Batley Boys in the Yorkshire Men's Forty-20 Cup.

A solitary John Farr try, converted by Ethan Egerton-Sharp, saw them trailing 16-6 at the break, before the arrival of substitute hooker Jonny Norman paved the way for Tom Hainsworth to power under the posts for a converted effort.

This unfortunately proved to be Queensbury's last hurrah as the Batley side ran out worthy winners.

Wibsey Warriors enjoyed a 38-36 home win over West Leeds Eagles in Division Two of the Yorkshire Men's League.

Elliot Culling collected a brace of tries and Josh Chamberlin, Ryan Goldsborough, Joe Ratcliffe and Kieron Smith added solo efforts.

Bradley Wright played a vital role in the ultimate success by contributing a try and five conversions.
