QUEENSBURY’S flying wingman Robson Moore posted a hat-trick as the Pennine League Division Four leaders made short shrift of fellow title contenders Kings Cross Park 28-10 at Deanstones Lane.

Bury struck the first blow when centre Jordon Brown broke through the defence to send Moore on route to the corner.

Full back Alix Stephenson skipped his way to the posts following a drop out with both efforts converted by Ethan Egerton Sharp before Moore completed a sparkling first half brace with a repeat of his earlier effort after another Brown incursion into the Halifax rearguard.

The visitors rallied to take advantage of back-to-back penalty awards to cross for an unconverted try but Bury were well in charge at 16-4 at the interval.

A crisp passing move on the restart saw Moore over for his trio before the Halifax outfit enjoyed their best period of the game by reducing the arrears to 20-10.

Bury burst back into scoring mode with 10 minutes to go when centre Sam Smith grabbed a brace to see Bury home and dry at the top of the table.

Clayton came within a whisker of lowering high-flying Ossett Trinity Tigers' colours before falling to a 30-24 defeat at Lidget Green.

It was all to play for in the second half when both sides changed ends at 6-6 following a Clayton try from second row forward Jamie Waterman converted by hooker Dane Bairstow.

The Villagers swapped touchdowns through centre Ryan Wilkinson, loose forward Simon Giles and substitute Karl Robinson on the resumption but it was the new table-toppers who emerged victorious at the final whistle.

Brighouse Rangers centre Jordon Sild and wingman Sam Hardcastle crossed for two tries apiece in the 36-10 Division One double over hosts Crigglestone All Blacks.

The best try of the game came from a cheeky chip and chase from lively scrum half Jamie Barraclough, with centre Liam Stead and packman Ben Wrightson also reaching the whitewash.

Wyke were in the wars in the 34-6 away defeat at Illingworth. The black and whites made the trip with only 15 men and soon lost the services of half back Jordon Payton with a suspected broken cheek bone.

Centre Ryan Exley scored their only try despite playing for an hour with a broken nose, and was their best on what was a very disappointing day.
