WYKE were involved in a thrilling Pennine League clash at Crigglestone All Blacks that eventually finished 15-15.

The early forward exchanges were fierce, with Shaun Godfrey, Ian Wormald and Ryan Exley leading the way for Wyke, and it was the visitors who took the lead when some superb handling broke the Crigglestone defence, allowing winger Dominic Milburn in at the corner.

Wyke then extended their lead when in-form back-rower Ryan Kershaw plunged over – but the home side hit back before half-time to leave the scoreline at 10-4.

The visitors thought they were in again when Milburn collected a lovely weighted kick from man of the match Jordan Payton, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

At the death, Payton looked to have sealed victory, only for the Wakefield outfit to strike back with a drop goal of their own to level it.

Wyke coach Warren Pitman said: "Our discipline is killing us but we executed some really nice plays, yet seemed to panic at times that caused us to lose possession."

Brighouse Rangers, despite missing several key men and including five players aged 17 or under, notched a fine 37-22 victory at Dalton.

Despite the long trip to Cumbria, centre Liam Stead got the visitors on the board after just three minutes when diving in for a try, which was backed up by a lovely try from Jordan Sild, who danced his way over.

Ben Ward and Marty Bailey were working hard in the forwards to lay the platform for Rangers' attack, while Gavin Midgley, Ronnie Bailey and Ben Wrightson provided a solid defence.

Stead then helped himself to a try and Sild collected his second, before rounding off a fine performance when he secured his hat-trick with a close-range effort.

The final score of the afternoon went to Stead, who intercepted a wayward Dalton pass to sprint the length of the field and touch down.

Some great individual displays, coupled with a huge defensive effort from a young Queensbury side, helped them run out worthy 26-6 winners at Slaithwaite Saracens.

Jordan Brown proved to be the match-winner with a fine hat-trick but Robson Moore opened the scoring for 'Bury with an excellent grubber kick that he collected to dive over.

Winger Chris Hanson then made a break from a scrum, only to be hauled down yards short, but the play led to Sam Smith taking a quick play and scooting over.

Brown picked up his first try of the game when some fine individual skill allowed him to dance his way over the line to make it 16-0 to Queensbury.

Moore was then dismissed after a game of push and shove but his side need not have worried as they continued to dominate.

Brown collected his second of the afternoon, quickly followed by his third, when a quick play-the-ball led to him beating several would-be tacklers to touch down.
