Queensbury bowed out of the BARLA Yorkshire Cup opening round after losing 48-28 at Hull-based Reckitts.

Bury's young side knew they would be underdogs against what looked like a tough outfit and Reckitts posted their intentions early, scoring within five minutes with a converted try under the sticks.

The visitors struck back ten minutes later when Joe Hall intercepted a move and went the full length of the pitch to score, Ethan Sharp adding the conversion to level the scores 6-6.

Bury allowed Reckitts back into the lead after 20 minutes with another simple converted try under the sticks. The hosts quickly struck again as a free-flowing move saw them touch down out wide to give them a 16-6 advantage.

Bury's defence were desperately holding on but were breached again on the half-hour mark when the home side helped themselves to another converted try. Five minutes before half-time things got worse when Reckitts scored again to give them a commanding 28-6 lead.

The Bradford side showed some real fight to get back on the scoreboard as winger Chris Hanson bullied his way over the line, leaving Sharp a tricky conversion that struck the upright.

Straight after the restart, Hanson showed some neat footwork to get over the whitewash for his second of the game, Sharp adding the extras from the touchline to peg back the Reckitts lead to 28-16.

A dubious penalty against Bury then lead to the hosts crossing the whitewash for their sixth try of the game but failing to add the extras. Bury's man of the match Cameron Parry crossed the line after a dash from the 15-metre mark that left the Reckitts defence flat-footed and unable to stop the powerful forward. Sharp added the extras to make it 32-22.

Bury began to tire and it was no surprise when Reckitts pressure told through two quick tries.

A pre-planned move then worked out to perfection, leaving Aiden Hainsworth to touchdown out wide and Sharp's deadly boot tagging on the extras. However, Reckitts proved too strong and rightly progressed the second round.
