West Bowling 26, Doncaster Toll Bar 18

MAX Trueman's hat-trick of tries sealed the Yorkshire Men's League Premier Division Grand Final for West Bowling as they crowned a magnificent two years for Glenn Barraclough.

The returning coach steered the club to the Pennine League Premier Division championship in 2014/15 and they were runners-up in 2015/16, while also winning the Bradford Cup in 2015.

Bowling were crowned BARLA club of the year in 2015 and Barraclough himself was voted BARLA coach of the year in the same campaign.

He then guided them to this season's summer league championship and on Saturday his side were victorious in the concluding Grand Final as they held off Doncaster Toll Bar.

Trueman was outstanding for his three tries and rightly collected the man of the match award.

Other scorers for Bowling were Adam Reardon and Liam Coe, who also helped himself to two goals supported by a Harry Williams conversion.

Meanwhile, Clayton were left wondering how they missed out on two points in their Pennine League Division Two fixture against Woodhouse Warriors as they were narrowly defeated 38-34.

Clayton dominated for large parts of the game and, leading 26-12 at one point, seemed in complete control thanks to tries from Simon Giles, Devon Gurney, Jamie Waterman, Mick Cunliffe and Danny Murgatroyd.

Yet the Warriors staged a dramatic comeback and Clayton needed a second Giles try to pull level at 32-32.

Ryan Wilkinson briefly edged Clayton back in front with a penalty goal but a late converted try snatched victory from their grasp.

Queensbury travelled to Kinsley Hotel Raiders in the third round of Division Four fixtures and pulled off a superb 33-16 win.

Kinsley got off to a quick start and scored a converted try on the ten-minute mark.

Queensbury reacted positively to the wake-up call, pressurising the opposition line with attack after attack and it was no surprise when Jason Gelder powered over from ten metres out to score an unconverted try.

Straight after the break, the visitors quickly got into their flow and Aidan Hainsworth broke the line to sprint over the whitewash and score, with Ethan Sharp adding the conversion to make it 10-6.

Kinsley hit back straight from the restart thanks to an error in the Queensbury defence to draw level at 10-10.

But Gelder then restored his side's the lead, again leaving Kinsley players in his wake to score under the sticks. Sharp again added the extras to make it 16-10.

That man Gelder was to the fore again, this time with a break to set up Hainsworth for his second of the game. Sharp was on target once more to extend Queensbury's advantage to 12 points.

Gelder proved to be in unstoppable form and secured his hat-trick when scoring under the sticks to leave an easy conversion for Sharp.

Relentless pressure came to fruition once more when Hainsworth crossed for his own hat-trick which earned a 32-10 lead.

With five minutes left, Sharp added insult to injury when he slotted over a drop goal for good measure.

The win sets up Queensbury nicely for their trip to Reckitts for their first fixture in the Yorkshire Cup in what should be a tough encounter.
