ODSAL Sedbergh put in a stunning display to beat Pennine League Championship Division table-toppers Mirfield Stags 40-26.

The Stags came to Odsal Rec with a 100 per cent record, and also boasted the best attacking record in the division but Sedge showed the visitors little respect.

The hosts set off like a house on fire and blitzed the Mirfield defence with a succession of tries, Scott Smith, Josh Briggs, Luke Dawson and Paul Bottomley all crossing as Sedge took full advantage of the slope.

Further scores went to Dawson, Sam Greenwood and Steve Suddards, who was on target with all of the conversions. West Bowling remain top of the Premier Division following a thumping 54-12 win over Morley Borough.

Bowling showed little sympathy to a Morley side that have only posted one win all season and didn't help their cause by having a man sent off late in the first half.

The hosts were 12-0 to the good within ten minutes, thanks to scores from Dan Gregory and Max Trueman, and Chris Watson found his way to the line to extend the advantage before the break.

In the second half, Bowling stepped up a gear, with further tries to Gregory, Trueman and Watson.

James Crabb, Nathaniel Light and Karl Spring also got on the scoresheet, while Harry Williams secured a perfect kicking record with nine from nine.

In Division Two, Wyke eased themselves further away from the wrong end of the table with a 58-0 hammering of strugglers West Craven Warriors.

Andy Lloyd opened up the scoring with a try under the posts, which was followed by touchdowns from Tim Stones and scrum half Jordan Payton.

Teenage winger Calvin Barkers scored a fantastic solo effort from his own half, and also helped himself to a second. Good work by Payton saw Stones over for his brace before a 60-metre dash from Coby Kitson heaped further misery on the visitors.

The second half was a carbon copy as both Kitson and Payton found their way to the line again, while Scott Watson also joined in on the act.

Gavin Mezals helped himself to seven goals, while Payton deservedly collected the man of the match award.

Wyke coach Warren Pitman said: "Our execution was good, and the return of Ian Watkinson linking in with Payton was what we've been missing."
