QUEENSBURY’S free scoring packman Tom Hainsworth posted a brace of tries when they started their Championship Division campaign with a 28-20 win at Allerton Bywater.

Bury started the game in fine style with wingman Scott Swann and scrum half Jonny Norman crossing for unconverted tries early doors.

And they inflicted further pain on the hosts when the mighty Hainsworth made the chalk with his trademark blockbuster from ten metres out.

He followed up with his second after a splendid long range run to put Bury into a commanding 20-6 half time lead.

The tally was increased on the restart when stand-off Gregg Marriot and wingman John Farr reached the whitewash and it looked game set and match at 28-6.

An unnecessary bout of indiscipline saw Norman and Farr sent to the sin bin, leaving Bury struggling with 11 men, which allowed the Castleford hosts back into the match.

But when Bury regained a full complement they completed the game without any further setbacks.
