QUEENSBURY moved safely into the second round of the BARLA Yorkshire Cup following an emphatic 46-4 win over Ossett Trinity Tigers.

Bury had too much firepower for the visitors with forward Tom Hainsworth in unstoppable form as he bagged an impressive six tries.

Bury were ahead as early as the third minute when Hainsworth took a short ball to crash over next to the posts and stand-off Mike Boocock added the extras.

Moments later, Hainsworth was over again when Liam Ryder made a half break and found him in support to touch down.

Boocock was again on target and Bury were coasting at 12-0.

Things got worse for the Tigers on 10 minutes when following a penalty for head high tackle Hainsworth found himself out wide on the left and brushed off a couple of tackles to dive over.

The try was successfully converted once more by Boocock.

The agony for the Tigers continued when they managed to knock on from their own scrum and it was that man Hainsworth again who found himself in the left channel and powered over.

The Tigers had no answer to Hainsworth and he was in for his fifth try of the half when a clever dummy allowed him to scoot over unopposed.

Boocock hit the target once more and Bury were in complete charge at 28-0.

The Tigers came out roaring in the second half and were on the scoreboard when winger Adam Firth collected a neat kick through from scrum half George Stott to race in at the corner.

Normal service was resumed minutes later, however, when Hainsworth capitalised on a fumble to stroll in under the posts.

Boocock added the simple kick to give Bury a 34-4 lead.

Bury's scoring was completed by Tony Clarke and Joe Flanagan when first Clarke finished off a fine move in the corner before Flanagan forced his way over next to the posts, Boocock converting both.

In the closing stages, tempers boiled over with all players becoming involved in a skirmish that resulted in the referee calling time early.
