BIRKENSHAW Rugby League Club are gearing up to host their first gala and preparing to reveal an extra-special surprise to club members at the fun day.
Taking place at East Bierley Playing Fields on Sunday from 11am, the gala day is open for current players and non-players.
There will be fun family activities, including matches from U7s, U8s, U9s, U11s and a masters team.
The club is calling out for all ex-Birkenshaw players to come forward to be part of a legendary masters team led by Paul Bancroft and including the likes of Phil Smith and Andy Redmond.
Anybody who would like to play should turn up on the day before kick-off at 2.30pm.
Children will be able to enjoy a bouncy castle, try their hand at a rugby target and a penalty shoot out, while there is a barbecue and bar open from noon.
Local businesses that would like to donate a prize to the raffle, all proceeds of which will go back in to running the club, are asked to contact Andy Redmond on 07876-692318.
Club secretary Redmond said: “The gala is designed to celebrate the achievement and effort the teams have put in throughout the season, but we’d also love to see new people who are interested in joining the club.
“We’ve been working on something behind the scenes which is going to be pivotal to the club and which we believe will catapult us to new heights in the West Yorkshire league."
