QUEENSBURY ARLFC will entertain the Army Rugby League Academy in the annual Martin Potts Memorial Day game at the Queensbury School Sports Field, Deanstones Lane on Saturday, kick-off 1.30pm.

The action starts at 10.30am, with a number of matches and events throughout the day, with a much-anticipated clash of the ‘Veterans’ bringing the occasion to a conclusion.

Martin Potts was a skilful full back at Bradford Northern in 1985 before returning to the amateur game with Clayton and eventually moving to Queensbury, for whom he starred for many years. He retired from the sport in 2006 before being diagnosed with motor neurone disease a year later, which sadly claimed his life in 2008 at the age of 42 years.

The proceeds raised will be shared with Queensbury club and Fix the Fields, with donations being made to Heartbeat of Sport and the Motor Neurone Disease Association
