West Bowling had high hopes of toppling Premier Division leaders Sharlston Rovers when they went into the sheds 12-12 at the interval following touchdowns from wingmen Ben Heald and Jordan Laban, together with two Liam Coe conversions.

Bowling – who had switched the game after Emsleys Rec was declared out of bounds – were justifiably rewarded for their considerable endeavours against the classy Rovers, who then dashed their giant-killing ambitions with a withering three-try blitz shortly after the restart to put them firmly in command.

Full back Ethan Ryan had the final say with his unconverted effort, leaving a lop-sided 30-12 final scoreline in favour of the Wakefield hosts.

Bottom-of-the-table Bank Top Harriers lost 46-16 at Hunslet Old Boys. The Harriers crossed the whitewash on three occasions through James Banks, Mike Hustler and Craig French, with Adam Mitchell on target twice with the boot.

Queensbury three-quarter Ash Ryan was outstanding in the close-run 16-12 Championship defeat at New Earswick All Blacks.

Bury felt aggrieved that two touchdowns were disallowed and the York hosts only made the scoreboard when the visitors had two men in the sin bin.

Queensbury wingman Scott Swann added a try to his two conversions together with another solo effort from half-back Gregg Marriott.

Birkenshaw could only muster a Anthony Lawton converted try in the 28-6 away reverse at Championship Division One leaders Illingworth.

In Division One, Wyke’s Tim Stones was carried off injured in the 26-0 defeat at Allerton Bywater but Queensbury A made amends for the first-team woes by outclassing Division Three visitors Silsden 16-4.

Wingman Nat Ridehough went in at the corner early doors soon followed by Liam Dover who skittled two defenders out of his path for a 8-0 half time lead.

Two more tries in the second stanza from Chris Hanson and Danny Sykes were sufficient to claim the spoils with Silsden preventing a whitewash with a late effort. Bury were well served by Luke Cheney and Darren Brown.

West Bowling A went down 16-12 at Meltham All Blacks. Reece Salt and Ben Cousen crossed, with Scott Smith adding the conversions. Former Bradford Northern hooker Glenn Barraclough was in top form, leading from the front.

Victoria Rangers A won 34-4 in a friendly at Beeston Broncos. Jordan Walker, Conner Lewis, Ben Quirk, Sam Thornton, Haydn Sugden, Azzer Brear and Alex Stott all made the whitewash.
