Askam 12 Bradford Dudley Hill 14

BRADFORD Dudley Hill rounded off their Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Two regular programme with a splendid 14-12 win at Askam.

The Cumbrian hosts had only lost once at home all season and were clearly caught on the wrong foot by a determined Hill outfit, who hit the front when hooker Kyle Carter made the whitewash, leaving Nathan Kitson to add the extras 20 minutes into the game.

Second-row forward Elliott Cousins then added a further touchdown before Askam came back to post a converted try to close the half 10-6 in favour of the Parry Laners.

The second stanza was a feisty affair, with both teams having players sin-binned, but Hill's attacking prowess was thwarted by having two touchdowns ruled out for forward passes.

Nevertheless, they increased their advantage further when Askam were penalised on the hour in front of the posts, giving Kitson an easy two-pointer, and he was on target once more when the Cumbrians wilted under constant Hill pressure shortly afterwards.

With ten minutes to go, Askam's Owen Wilkinson crossed in the corner for his second try, and the touchline conversion set the scene for a grandstand finish, but Hill controlled the game to see out time and ensure they go into Saturday's home play-off game against Ovenden on a high.
