JAMES Feather believes the Cougars are building "confidence and continuity" as they head to Gloucester this weekend in search of a fifth straight win.

Paul March's second-placed side saw off London Skolars on Bank Holiday Monday to maintain the pressure on leaders Oldham, who sit two points clear at the summit with two games remaining.

Keighley face Gloucestershire All Golds tomorrow and then finish their regular Kingstone Press League One campaign with a home match against Hemel Stags before a probable promotion play-off decider with Oldham.

Club captain Feather said: "We've played some tough teams over the last couple of weeks and now we've got an easier run-in by comparison – and that's no disrespect to the opposition we are facing.

"It's good because it should give us more confidence and continuity going into the play-offs.

"If we win these last two games, we should finish second and that will stand us in good stead to go to Oldham, which could see us promoted.

"Oldham will definitely finish top but our goal was to finish in the top two, so we should definitely achieve that I would have thought."

Feather is contracted to his home-town club for next season and is hoping the Cougars will be a Championship outfit again in 2016.

"I signed a two-year contract last year, so I'm signed up for next season and I'm looking forward to it," he said.

"Hopefully we will be playing in the Championship next season and testing ourselves against some better clubs.

"We might be playing Bradford and Halifax, which would be great local derbies.

"As a club, we are building well and I know a lot of the lads are looking to stay next year, so we're keeping the core of the squad together. That's good for Paul and good for the club.

"As I've spoken about previously, I would like to move into coaching when I finally retire. I'm hoping Paul will give a bit more of a say in terms of training next season.

"I've already helped out at one or two sessions with the reserves. I've enjoyed that and hopefully next year I can be a little bit more hands-on."

Feather is due to get married shortly and had his stag do in Newcastle last weekend, which meant he could not attend the Challenge Cup final at Wembley.

Prior to Leeds' 50-0 win over Hull KR, Lizzie Jones sung a beautiful version of Abide With Me while images of her late husband Danny were shown on Wembley's big screen.

"Lizzie asked us all to go but I had my stag do in Newcastle and we watched the game up there," said Feather.

"The strength that Lizzie showed to go out and perform like that was unbelievable and showed how talented she is.

"We knew she could sing professionally but she did Danny so proud.

"It was fantastic and there were a few tears shed up in Newcastle and from the lads who were down at Wembley.

"Everyone is still doing little fundraising events here and there to support Lizzie and the twins.

"We're trying to raise money and also awareness, at Lizzie's request, because she wants to raise awareness of what happened to Danny in all sports to stop this ever happening again."

The Cougars are staying in a hotel in the West Country today ahead of the match at Gloucester.

Feather explained: "The boys are even paying some money out of their own pocket to stay in a hotel, which shows our commitment to staying in the top two and getting the job done."
