Jade Dernbach was handed an emotional recall for England's one-off NatWest Twenty20 international against West Indies at Trent Bridge.
Dernbach was selected to play for the first time since the death of his Surrey team-mate and close friend Tom Maynard last week. Following the incident the 26-year-old right-armer left England's squad for the second one-day international, but after returning to training he has been called up for his first international match of the summer.
Captain Stuart Broad lost the toss and England fielded first as he led out a mostly inexperienced team in front of his home crowd on his 26th birthday - with six of his players boasting less than nine Twenty20 caps.
Eoin Morgan and Craig Kieswetter were the only batsmen who remain from the team that won the World Twenty20 final two years ago and, with just four games remaining until their defence in Sri Lanka, Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Jonny Bairstow and Samit Patel were all given a chance to impress.
Tim Bresnan and Danny Briggs were the men to miss out from the 13-man squad.
West Indies were able to select star opener Chris Gayle in a Twenty20 for the first time in two years following his dispute with their national board.
