Sugden set for 24-hour marathon
Bradford driver Tim Sugden makes his first competitive appearance in America for over two years this weekend when he competes in the Rolex 24 at the Daytona Super Speedway.
Sugden will be driving a Porsche 998 GT3 Cup car for The Racers Group in the
24-hour endurance race, which starts at 1.30pm local time on Saturday with over 60 entries.
He will lead a five-strong team along with Johannes Van Overbeek - like Sugden a
former Porsche International Cup winner - which also includes the car's owner Jim Lowe, Jim Pace and RJ Vallentine, a regular driver in what is one of America's most prestigious sports car races.
Sugden's engineer "Doc" Steve Bunkhall will be crew chief on the car. In the test weekend
earlier this month, it was fifth fastest when 11 cars were within a second of each other.
The team's focus prior to tomorrow's practice sessions has been on getting the best wear rate from the Pirelli tyres that are standard on all cars.
The race is live on Eurosport.
