Penalties are costly for Bulldogs
Bradford Bulldogs 1, Sheffield Spartans 7
Bradford Bulldogs opened their season at home to last season's play-off champions Sheffield Spartans and came away with a 7-1 defeat.
In front of a decent crowd, the Bulldogs found it tough going and were 1-0 down inside three minutes and went further behind in the eighth minute.
Wesley Barnett pulled one back 11 minutes later but two more goals when the Bulldogs were shorthanded in the 25th and 36th minutes put Sheffield in control.
They scored again two minutes later and followed that by scoring powerplay goals in the third period to condem the Bulldogs to a opening loss.
In the end too many penalties were taken, giving the Bulldogs little chance.
The next home game is on Sunday, September 23 against Kingston Jets (5.15). Admission is £5.
