Late goal flurry gives Thackley glossy victory
Glasshoughton Welfare 1, Thackley 4
Thackley's penultimate game of the season resulted in one of their biggest wins for some time when they put four past Glasshoughton Welfare tonight in the
Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Three of the game's five goals were crammed into the last three minutes.
Nicky Matthews netted midway through the first half, chasing a through ball and breaking the deadlock with a well-struck volley.
He doubled Thackley's lead by pouncing on a rebound from a Ross Daly effort seven minutes into the second half.
The late burst started when Ian Horrocks gave the visitors a 3-0 lead with a shot from a tight angle.
Glasshoughton hit back from the restart. The ball was rolled forward and Nathan Smith lashed in a dipping shot from the halfway line.
Danny Forrest curled in Thackley's fourth direct from an 89th-minute corner.
