Joy of six with Thackley
5:00pm Thursday 27th September 2012 in Thackley By Ian Whiting
Thackley will be in high spirits as they host Pickering Town in the Baris Northern Counties East Premier Division on Saturday after romping to a high scoring victory on Wednesday.
The Dennyboys leaped from 11th to seventh with a 6-0 win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway and had five different scorers. Recent signing Jordan Missin bagged himself a brace, after opening his Thackley account in the previous game, while Mark Bett returned from a hamstring injury and was also on target.
Liversedge also enjoyed a good win in midweek as they returned from Arnold Town with all the points from a 1-0 victory. Sedge are still just in the bottom half of the table but trail Saturday’s visitors Long Eaton United by just four points.
Neighbours Brighouse Town are fourth and they could have been in an even better position had their home game against Long Eaton in midweek not fallen victim to the excessive wet weather.
Town are on the road this weekend, heading to Armthorpe Welfare who are a lowly 15th after averaging just one point per game in their 11 starts. Town are far from consistent this term despite their top four placing so manager Paul Quinn will have highlighted the need for concentration to his players in his preparation for the trip.
Albion Sports should have hosted Eccleshill United in a Bradford derby in Division One but that game had to be shelved. Albion’s landlords Bradford Park Avenue have a home game in the Conference North so that takes precedence.
In the North West Counties Premier Division, Silsden travel to Glossop North End needing at least a draw to prevent the Derbyshire outfit leapfrogging them in mid-table.
The Cobbydalers are currently 12th but have just two points more than Glossop who have played two fewer games. Silsden will still be feeling the frustration of suffering a 2-1 defeat at league leaders Bootle last weekend.
