Evo-Stik League Premier Division: Witton Albion 1 Farsley Celtic 4

A HAT-TRICK from Isaac Baldwin took Farsley Celtic to the brink of a play-off finish in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division after Adam Lakeland’s men came from a goal down to romp to a big win at Witton Albion.

The home side had broken the deadlock on the quarter-hour, leaving Celts keeper Kyle Trenerry frustrated yet again.

The young stopper had pulled off a fine save from a fierce shot but Paul Williams latched onto the rebound and his shot crashed off the underside of the bar and bounced over the line.

Trenerry had done well to parry a great effort in Saturday’s 4-3 win at Barwell, only to see his defence react slowly and a Barwell forward net the loose ball.

Farsley equalised just before the half-hour when Luke Parkin lashed a fine shot into the bottom corner, but the home side thought they had beaten Trenerry again before the break, only for the header to be ruled offside.

It was the Baldwin show in the second half, and he netted the first of his treble with a superb shot from outside the area that curled before going in off the inside of the post.

Witton keeper Calvin Hare had little chance saving that or Baldwin’s other two superb strikes as Farsley eased to victory.

Promotion rivals Shaw Lane also won away, so as it stands the Celts still need to win their final game at home against Marine on Saturday to be sure of a play-off place.

Shaw Lane are four points behind but they have a game in hand, which they play tomorrow at home against Barwell.

Liversedge hosted Staveley Miners' Welfare in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division, just 24 hours after Monday’s home game was abandoned after Sedge player Craig Billington had suffered a seizure after 78 minutes.

With Billington still in hospital but on the road to recovery, Jonathan Rimmington’s Sedge rallied and stormed to a 4-0 win over the Trojans, thanks to a strong finish.

The home side led 1-0 at the break after Joe Walton had netted early, but second-half goals from Aaron Fell and a brace from Josh Greenhough saw them through to a comfortable win.

Sedge’s top-tier neighbours, Thackley and Albion Sports, both suffered defeat.

The Dennyboys were a goal up at the break at Pickering Town, Matt Broadley scoring midway through the first half, but the Pikes hit back after the interval with goals from Billy Logan, Ryan Blott and Bradley Freer to win 3-1.

The Albion Lions went down 1-0 at Barton Town, with the Swans’ Josh Tennant netting a last-gasp winner.

Campion were at Selby Town in Division One and ended their hosts' play-off chances with a 3-1 win.

Piteu Crouz had given the red and blacks a 13th-minute lead but Joe Dale equalised before the interval.

Goals from Danny Cunningham and Devonte Morton snuffed out the Robins’ hopes of a top-six finish and left Campion in seventh place.

It was the last game of the season for James Bicknell’s men and they may finish lower down the table when all of their rivals have completed their fixtures.
