LIVERSEDGE suffered a surprise 2-1 home defeat in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division as Harrogate Railway inflicted rapid revenge for their defeat in the reverse fixture last Wednesday.

Sedge cruised to a 3-0 win at Station View in midweek but the Rail avenged that with victory at Clayborn.

The visitors broke the deadlock midway through the first half when Lincoln Adams converted a penalty after Adam Carter had been fouled.

Carter doubled his side’s lead by chipping home keeper Chandler Hallwood five minutes before the break.

The hosts hit back just before the hour mark when Rhys Davies slotted in but they could not complete the comeback.

Sedge are back in action tomorrow night as they travel to Division One outfit Dronfield Town for a re-arranged League Cup fourth-round tie.

Thackley banked a fourth three-point maximum on the spin in the top tier as they won 1-0 at Worksop Town.

Mike Garrod grabbed the game’s only goal, in the eighth minute, but the Dennyboys ended with 10 men after Jerry White was sent off five minutes from time for a professional foul.

Eccleshill United are back in the automatic promotion places in Division One after a 2-0 away win at 10th-placed Rossington Main.

The Eagles were held to a goalless first half before Luke Harrop broke the deadlock a minute after the interval with a superb 25-yard free-kick.

Charlie Flaherty made the points safe when he hit the Eagles’ second 17 minutes from time, the midfielder lashing a shot into the bottom corner from Jonny Irving’s lay-off.

Campion’s hopes of a play-off finish took another blow as they went down 4-2 at home to fourth-placed Shirebrook Town.

James Bicknell’s black and reds twice took the lead in the first half but still went into the break all-square as goals from Graham Hall and Talent Ndlovu were cancelled out by Declan Brewin and Kieran Watson strikes.

Brewin went on to claim a hat-trick as he added in the 64th and 76th minutes to give Town, who had seen Watson fail to convert a first-half penalty, the win.
