Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Albion Sports 2 Pickering Town 2

ALBION Sports put Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup exit behind them as they earned a point from the visit of Pickering Town in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The Lions had home advantage and took an early lead but it was still a well-earned point as the Pikes had been on a seven-game winning run in the league.

The only points they had dropped before last night was when they were held to a draw in their opening fixture.

Kulwinder Sandhu will also be pleased that his strike 'twins' Danny Facey and Omar Habeeb are back in tandem.

Facey missed two games through unavailability, while Habeeb has had a spell out through injury.

Facey gave Albion an 11th-minute lead at Throstle Nest last night, only for the visitors’ Lewis Taylor to net an equaliser on the stroke of half- time.

Ryan Blott put the Pikes in front midway thorough the second half but Habeeb netted from the penalty spot ten minutes later as the points were shared.

Thackley were in action in the same division as they travelled to top-tier newcomers Penistone Church, and the Dennyboys suffered a shock defeat.

Their hosts were third from bottom after taking just four points from seven games, and they almost doubled that total with a 3-2 home win.

The Dennyboys took an early lead as Jerome White broke the deadlock in the 14th minute but they still trailed at the break, with Nathan Keightley and Brett Lovell both scoring inside the last eight minutes of the first half.

Penistone’s Kieran Ryan made it 3-1 before Nicky Matthews netted just too late to give Thackley a fighting chance.
