LIVERSEDGE are still sitting proudly at the top of the Premier Division in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League after stretching their unbeaten league run into double figures.

They toiled at times at lowly Parkgate as the second-from-bottom side put in a stubborn display.

But Sedge got the win they were looking for thanks to a well- taken free-kick from Steve Wales eight minutes into the second half.

THACKLEY climbed to third with a 2-1 home win over relegated Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Ben Joyce was the Dennyboys’ hero as he bagged a brace in a one-sided first half.

Joyce met a good free-kick from skipper Pat McGuire with a glancing header to break the deadlock, and eight minutes later he hit a shot that took a deflection past the Rail’s keeper Adam Burkinshaw.

The Rail were much better after the interval but it took them until the 71st minute to halve the deficit.

Greg Kidd converted Ryan Shorrocks’ corner with a header but the visitors couldn’t produce an equaliser.

Thackley are now above neighbours ALBION SPORTS after the Lions tumbled from second to fourth following a narrow defeat at Clipstone, the game’s only goal coming from Josh Nodder.

Campion and Eccleshill United are back on the brink of the play-off places in Division One after both banked maximum points from 3-2 victories on Saturday.

CAMPION had the more difficult task as they faced a visit from AFC Emley, who were on the march after a poor start.

Eli Hey’s hat-trick won the game for James Bicknell’s men, despite Emley twice coming from behind.

Ashley Flynn hit the first leveller and Aaron Joseph made it 2-2 after just 26 minutes of a frantic first half.

Hey beat Emley keeper Graham McLachlan for a third time with a well-placed lob seven minutes into the second half.

ECCLESHILL remain on the same points as their derby rivals after victory at Yorkshire Amateur.

Sam Bradley headed the Eagles into an eighth-minute lead and they took that slender advantage into the break.

The sides were level minutes into the second half when the keeper Joe Stead fumbled a free-kick into his own net. Marcus Edwards steered the ball past the home keeper on the hour but the Ammers levelled again, this time from the penalty spot, before captain fantastic Bradley converted another corner in the second minute of stoppage time.
