Toolstation Northern Counties East League: Bridlington Town 2 Thackley 2

THACKLEY came close to pulling off a shock result at Bridlington Town but the high-flying hosts hit a late equaliser to snatch a point.

It was the only game played in the whole of the division, and one of only four involving the entire league, three of which came in the FA Vase.

The rain was just as relentless on the east coast but the Seasiders quoted the ‘excellent drainage at the Neil Hudgell Solicitors Stadium’ as the reason for the game beating the horrendous weather.

It was played in difficult conditions but Thackley adapted well, taking the lead through Ryan Farrell just after the half-hour but the home side hit back almost immediately, Andy Norfolk levelling.

The Dennyboys did take an advantage into the interval, however, Ben Cohen netting his second in two games for the visitors.

They held that until the 85th minute when Tim Taylor broke their resistance and their hearts to bank Brid a point.

The dramatic draw saw the Seasiders leap from fifth to third in the table, above Albion Sports on goal difference.

Thackley also moved up but just by one place and are now one of three clubs on 24 points.

One of the others are Pontefract Collieries, who visit Dennyfield tomorrow.
