ALBION Sports dropped two places to tenth in the Premier Division after a disappointing 3-1 Toolstation Northern Counties East League defeat at long-term rivals Athersley Recreation.

Albion and Saturday's hosts came through Division One at the same time and were promoted together when Kulwinder Sandhu's men won the lower-tier title in the 2012-13 season and Athersley finished as runners-up.

Athersley, who are now 12th, triumphed in this latest battle between the clubs by racing into a two-goal lead inside the opening quarter hour.

Lee Bennett broke the deadlock after just 12 minutes and Daniel Joynes added the second goal just minutes later.

The visitors pulled a goal back through Ferdinand Annor just before the interval but Athersley wrapped up the points ten minutes from time, with Josh Moore on target.

LIVERSEDGE snatched a point with a last-gasp equaliser as it finished 1-1 at Garforth Town.

The home side's prolific scorer Sinmi Oyebanji gave them the lead midway through the first half.

Sedge had keeper Sam Dodds to thank for still being in with a shout when Tom Jackson netted their stoppage-time leveller.

THACKLEY'S home game against Armthorpe Welfare was postponed after a morning pitch inspection found areas of the pitch and the car park to be unsafe following a deep frost.

It was due to be the Dennyboys' only home game of the month. They do not have another Dennyfield fixture until January 10.
