ALBION SPORTS moved back up into the top eight of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a comfortable 4-1 home win over Pickering Town.

The Pikes had confirmed Tony Hackworth as their new permanent manager in the week leading up to their trip to Albion, and the feel-good factor was added to when Billy Logan fired in a fifth-minute free-kick to give them a lead at Throstle Nest.

Albion battled away until they got back into the game on the stroke of half-time, Alex Cusack netting from 15 yards.

Then Cusack hit an even better second to put the home side in front seven minutes into the second half.

Brice Tiani conjured up a piece of magic as he increased Albion’s lead in the 77th minute and Matty James wrapped up the scoring in the last minute with a superb finish after a surging run.

There was no joy for THACKLEY as they lost out by a single goal at Bridlington Town.

The Dennyboys were chasing the game from 15 minutes onwards after Brid’s Ombeni Ruhanduka hit two goals in as many minutes.

Mike Garrod pulled one back early in the second half but the home side banked all three points.

LIVERSEDGE were thwarted as their home game against Athersley Recreation was postponed after a morning inspection due to a waterlogged pitch.

ECCLESHILL UNITED went goal crazy as they hammered struggling Lincoln Moorlands Railway 9-0 in Division One.

Eagles skipper Charlie Flaherty got them off to a solid start by opening the scoring in the eighth minute and bagged a brace just before the half-hour. Joey D’Antonio added a third before the break.

Three goals in a 12-minute spell midway through the second half took the game away from Moorlands. Marcus Edwards scored just after the hour and Josh Rosenstrauch followed with a rapid-fire double.

Three goals in the last five minutes rubbed salt into the visitors’ wounds, with Steve Rivera, Matt Burrus and Dougie Stevenson all on target to complete the rout.
