BRIGHOUSE Town failed to build on Saturday’s victory in Evo-Stik League Division One North as they lost 2-0 at Salford City last night.

Salford, part owned by the ‘Class of 92’, returned to the summit after briefly being deposed when Farsley held them to a 1-1 draw at Throstle Nest at the weekend. Yet they had to dig deep to beat mid-table Town.

The home side broke the deadlock from the penalty spot after a goalless first half, Gareth Seddon netting just before the hour mark after a disputed foul in the area.

Town went down to ten men four minutes from time when Adam Field picked up a second yellow card and, deep into injury time, Dale Johnson sealed Salford’s win with their second goal.

Thackley bounced back from their weekend derby defeat at home to Liversedge by earning a point from a 1-1 draw at Glasshoughton Welfare.

The home side took a first-half lead through Matthew Haigh but Thomas Dugdale hit the Dennyboys’ equaliser.

Silsden suffered a heavy home North West Counties League defeat in the Premier Division, with Peter Wright netting all four of Nelson’s unanswered goals - two from the penalty spot.

The Cobbydalers almost saw it through to the break but Wright opened the scoring in the 40th minute and added his second in first-half stoppage time.

The hosts ended up with outfielder Owen Deakin-Pickard in goal after Phil Rishton failed to come out for the second half and the stand-in could not prevent Wright adding two penalties in a two-minute spell around the hour mark.
