LIVERSEDGE won the derby at Dennyfield but the three points did not take them above hosts Thackley in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

It was a tight game with chances at a premium but the visitors got a sight of goal midway through the first half. Andy Wood played Kieran Corley through but with just the Dennyboys’ keeper Ed Hall to beat the shot wide.

Thackley’s best chances fell to Antonie Burke but he fired the first over and was wide of the target with the second as the first half finished goalless.

The deadlock was not broken until just after the hour when Mitchell Pearson neatly slotted in Wood’s cross.

Sedge keeper Sam Dobbs made a good save, which was crucial as just a minute later the visitors doubled their lead.

This time it was Pearson’s assist and Andy Wood wrapped up the 2-0 win with a good shot on the turn.

Albion Sports enjoyed their first victory in the division since the opening week of September as they romped to a 6-1 win at struggling Glasshoughton.

Danny Facey hit a first half hat-trick and Karl Hall was also on target as Kulwinder Sandhu’s side went into the break 4-0 up.

The home side pulled a goal back but Hall netted his second and Ferdinand Annor completed the scoring.

It was Annor’s first goal for the club in a game which also marked another first as 17-year-old Kamron Basi made his Albion debut. The youngster came on for the final 15 minutes.

Sandhu said: “It’s always nice when one of the players comes through from the ranks, and Kamron has been with the juniors right through all the age groups so it is especially good to see him breaking into the first team.”

Eccleshill United remain third in the lower tier, despite a hard-earned three points at Yorkshire Amateur.

With just two minutes remaining, John Rogers popped up with the dramatic winner.

The Eagles are five points adrift of the top two but are now three points clear of fourth-placed Hemsworth.
