Farsley got their season up and running with a 2-1 home win over Ossett Town in tonight’s Evo-Stik Division One North derby clash.

The home side needed a late winner but it was a deserved victory and the three points were welcome after an away defeat on the opening day of the season.

Farsley made a bright start but toiled to open the scoring until they were handed a gilt-edged opportunity. Aaron Hardy scored from the penalty spot after Adam Priestley had been felled by the visitors’ keeper midway through the first half.

Town’s former Leeds United youth player Chris Ovington levelled before half time but Farsley piled the pressure on in the second half and were eventually rewarded when Priestley stabbed in from close range after a shot had been parried.

It was a winning double for the area over Ossett clubs as Brighouse Town won at Albion by the same scoreline.

Ernest Boafo put the visitors in front in the 16th minute and Shaquille Clarke-Adams made it 2-0 minutes into the second half.

Ossett Albion’s Curtis Noble reduced the arrears but Paul Quinn’s men held their nerve and held onto their perfect start to life in the Evo-Stik League with six points from their opening two games.
