The Dennyboys play their final friendly tomorrow and whatever the result the club have been satisfied with their pre-season schedule.

New club secretary Mark Holstead said: “The 3-0 win at home against Knaresborough was a very good team performance against a very decent outfit.

“We kept the ball well and created plenty of chances. The game at Barnoldswick was also an excellent team display albeit with a weakened side. I thought we dominated the game after the first 15 minutes.

“There were about eight players who couldn’t make it because of work or one thing and another. It has gone well but there will always be a few things that don’t fall into place when you’re building a new squad.

“We hope to make inroads this season and the results we have been getting in the pre-season games have helped with the players’ confidence.

“For me and Phil (Woollias, the club’s new chairman) it is all very exciting being at a new club but we are have seen it all before at other clubs or in other roles and we have been very pleased.

“It will be a tough division this coming season but we expect Thackley to make an impression on it and hopefully be challenging for promotion.”
